Martin F. Sheehan is a partner of the Commercial Litigation section. He represents businesses and their insurers in the areas of commercial, professional and product liability.

Mr. Sheehan's peers, as polled by The Best Lawyers in Canada directory, named him among the best litigators in Canada in product liability law. He works regularly with manufacturers, importers and distributors of industrial and consumer products defending them against individual and class actions following the manufacture or sale of allegedly defective products. He counsels company executives and helps them manage product recalls in cooperation with their public and investor-relations departments. He works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and clinical research organizations on all aspects of drug marketing. He practices in the field of aviation law, protecting airlines and aircraft manufacturers sued for personal injury or property damage. He also defends a wide array of professionals (architects, engineers, accountants, bailiffs, brokers, lawyers, pharmacists, psychologists and real estate agents) against professional liability claims. He pleads before Québec courts of all jurisdictions, and is well-versed in alternative dispute resolution methods.

Martin is also interested in litigation related to project management in particular for the construction and technology industries. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Montreal chapter of the Project Management Institute and he has given numerous conferences on the legal aspects and best practices of project management. He has been a prominent actor in many lawsuits, commercial arbitrations and mediations resulting from costs or schedule overruns, premature contract terminations, or disputes surrounding the scope of the contract in important construction and technology projects.

He advises clients on adopting technology and email use policies and setting up of e-commerce Web sites. He is the co-author of a consolidation of all Canadian e-commerce legislation and related documents published bi-annually by Lexis Nexis.
