Stuart Brotman acts in all nature of insolvency proceedings including bankruptcy, receivership and restructuring proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, the Canada Business Corporations Act and other corporate legislation.

With considerable cross-border experience, Stuart regularly works closely with US counsel in advising clients in proceedings under the CCAA and the United States Bankruptcy Code. Stuart frequently represents prospective purchasers or investors in pursuing and completing sales and investment transactions in domestic and cross-border insolvency proceedings.

Regularly advising both private and public companies, Stuart’s clients span a broad range of stakeholders, including debtors, creditors, suppliers, customers and other contracting parties and monitors, receivers and trustees in bankruptcy.

An active speaker, Stuart also regularly writes on topics related to insolvency and creditors’ rights. His expertise is recognized by Chambers Global, Chambers Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
