Gender Equity

Fasken has committed to identifying and adopting principles and best practices that promote the retention and advancement of women in the private practice of law and specifically to achieving goals in key core areas: flexible work arrangements, networking and business development, and mentoring and leadership skills development for women.

We support numerous diversity initiatives in each of the countries that we operate in.

    Our firm has committed to identifying and adopting principles and best practices that promote the advancement of women in law including partnering with like-minded organizations such as Premières en Affaires magazine.
  • ​The International Alliance for Women

    ​​​​One of our lawyers received a World of Difference 100 Award from The International Alliance for Women in recognition of her role as a founder and national Chair of the Professional Women’s Network.​
  • ​WEConnect

    ​​WEConnect International is a global network that connects women-owned businesses to qualified buyers around the world.
  • ​Women in Business & Feminine Force Fasken

    ​We founded two women’s committees in the Québec region: Women in Business, composed of female partners and Feminine Force Fasken (F3), composed of associates.
  • ​Women in Mining in South Africa

    ​​The firm’s women mining lawyers are members of Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA), a volunteer not-for-profit organization.
  • ​Women's Networking Initiative

    ​​Our Women’s Networking Initiative offers networking and business development opportunities and mentoring and leadership skills development for women.
  • ​Young Women in Law

    ​​YWL hosts a variety of networking events that provide members with opportunities to meet and establish connections with other YWL members and develop and enhance life and career skills.

  • ​Black Partners on Bay Street

    ​​Fasken is a proud supporter of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers including its Black Partners on Bay Street initiative.
  • ​Black Solicitors Network

    ​​Fasken works closely with the Black Solicitors' Network, a not-for-profit company that aims to be the primary voice of black solicitors in England and Wales.
  • ​​Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment

    ​​Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) is an economic policy implemented by the South African government that contributes to the economic transformation of South Africa, by increasing the number of black people that manage, own and control the country’s economy, and diminishing income inequalities.
  • ​Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council

    ​​The Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council's mission is to champion business relationships and economic growth of the Canadian supply chain through the inclusion of Aboriginals and Minority suppliers.
  • ​Canadian Association of Black Lawyers

    ​​CABL, formed in March 1996, is a national network of law professionals and individuals committed to reinvesting in the community.
  • ​​DuPont Minority Counsel Network (MCn) & Minority Counsel Conference (MCC)

    ​​The International Lawyers for Africa's mission is to build legal excellence in Africa by providing access to advanced legal training, networking opportunities and education for African lawyers and senior professionals engaged in the negotiation of complex transactions in Africa.
